Twofold's chosen charity - CLIC Sargent

CLIC Sargent visit Twofold Ltd 10th May 2018

I was delighted to be asked to speak at the kick off of our relationship with CLIC Sargent.

As I explained to our team, my family has been devastated by cancer. Over a period of five years I lost a father-in-law, a mother-in-law, and my own father. However, all of them had lived into their 70s and had the opportunity to have a great life.

Unfortunately, cancer doesn’t discriminate and it can also strike a young life, and CLIC Sargent's focus is on helping young people and their families. Our Managing Director, Phil Charnick, had raised money before for CLIC Sargent when he ran the Reading half marathon, so it was a perfect choice for us as company to focus our fundraising on.

On their visit to kick off our partnership we heard from CLIC Sargent how they help, and were heartened to hear the high survival rates, but also that the treatments can have a massive impact on a family. If you need to travel long distances to have daily treatment this can be very hard to organise, fund, and fit into a busy family life. Because of this, we have decided to help fund accommodation next to the hospital to allow families to stay together, near the treatment and reduce the stress and pressure at what is already a very difficult time.

Twofold has pledged to raise enough to fund the running of one of these houses for a year.

So, over the next few months there will be a wide range of activities and events to help us reach our desired target. We kicked off with a 'Car Park BBQ' and organised a cake sale where we visited all our neighbouring businesses. There are also lots of plans for muddy runs, marathon bike rides, bands playing and all sorts of other shenanigans. I am delighted to support this charity, and delighted our team have got behind it. I am sure we will be sharing our exploits on this blog as time goes by.
